Jonathan Blood Home
located at 5903 Route 193 the top of the hill on the west side of South
Lake Street. This home was built in 1870 on farm land which covered
about three-quarters of Lot 20 in Kingsville Township. Property
owners: Eden Wilcox in 1820; James C. Smith in 1830 - 1847;
Daniel Adams in 1853; Jonathan Blood in 1874; Benjamin Blood
in 1905. In the days of the Kingsville Academy ((1835-1872), Daniel Adams maintained a picnic ground in a grove of trees on this property. Graduating students paraded from the Academy building on the park, up the hill to this grove to hold a picnic and final exercises. Graduation ceremonies were usually held in one of the churches or the town meeting hall. |
